Sustainable Home Garden
- Project objective: The sustainable production of vegetables for beneficiaries through the establishment of productive and viable home gardens.
- Expected Output:
- Establishment of 541 highly productive and sustainable home gardens equipped with the essential infrastructure (soil, bagasse, ash, white lime, dolomite, used tires, vegetable seedlings use, and production of Biopesticides ) for vegetable production
What do beneficiaries receive?
1. vegetable seedlings
2. Access to topsoil( bagasse, ash, white lime, dolomite to be added in certain instances)
3 Training on Vegetable production by Experts from the Ministry of Agriculture, ( emphasis on usage and production of bio input and biopesticides e.g. Metarhizum, Bacillus
4. Access to used containers.
5. Regular visits by the Extension officers of the Ministry of Agriculture to check on garden progress and provide technical support via chat group with beneficiaries. ( those beneficiaries with more experience in gardening can assist as suggested in the countrywide outreach and agreed.)
6. Linkage established between beneficiaries/ home gardeners and major vendors in respective Urban areas for the marketing/ sales of vegetables
7. One market day, per location, organized with 40% of participants actively participating with product display from their home gardens (optional)
